On January 20th, 2014 I noticed there was a bump on my back, when I went to take a shower. When I went and showed my mom one of the first things she did was go onto the internet to see if she could find out anything about it. When she was done looking she told me that she thought it might be scoliosis but she wasn't sure, after explaining to me what scoliosis was I calmed down a little.
The next day I went to school and when break was done we had just gotten to our third period class when I got a note from the office saying that I was going to be picked up at 11 which was about 5 minutes away so I left class with my teachers permission and headed up to the office with my stuff. When my mom came and picked me up I asked her why she was picking me up and she told me that we were going to the emergency room to get them to look at my back. We were waiting in the emergency room for about 3 hours before we got in to see the doctor.
The doctor took a look at my back he told me that he was almost certain that it was scoliosis but he sent for for an x-ray just to make sure. When he got the x-ray back we found out it was scoliosis. Then he sent a referral with a doctor here on PEI, who saw my x-ray and sent a referral to an orthopedic surgeon who then said that he couldn't do anything so he sent a referral to the IWK for an appointment with Dr. El-Hawary.
